The HASTILOW One-Act Drama Festival celebrates the exceptional talent of local theatre companies in a spirit of friendly competition and artistic excellence.
Participating groups have the opportunity to compete for festival awards and, if they choose to enter the competitive pathway, to progress to the next stage of the All-England Theatre Festival national competition. Successful entrants will represent the Central Division at the Quarter Final on 25 April.
The festival will take place at The Rose Theatre, Rugeley, on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April.
Open to amateur theatre companies and performers of all experience levels, the festival provides a valuable platform to showcase work, connect with like-minded groups, and gain professional insight. Each production receives detailed adjudication from an experienced professional, making the festival an enriching experience for both participants and audiences.
Each session will feature two or three one-act plays. The programme typically includes a diverse range of work — from established classics to new writing — encompassing a variety of styles and scales, including ensemble productions and two-handers, youth and adult performances, as well as drama, comedy, fantasy, and tragedy.
The festival concludes on Sunday with an awards presentation, where we will announce the production selected to progress to the Central Division Quarter Final, with the possibility of advancing further to the Central Area Semi-Final, and ultimately to the English and British Finals.
We warmly encourage new groups to take part and experience the creativity, collaboration, and professional development the festival offers.
